Description

The International Experiences License (IEL) certifies the possession of the skills considered essential to operate in the Experiences sector in compliance with what is defined in the Framework of Skills for Tourism, the Arts and Cultural Heritage: “Tourism, Arts and Heritage Competence Framework (TAH-CF)”.

The assessment of these skills takes place on the basis of objective evidence and in compliance with the principle of impartiality.

It is possible to obtain the Experience License based on specific training and/or professional certification issued by national professional institutions and associations (in Italy by AIPTOC - Italian Association of Tourism Professionals and Cultural Operators included in the list of the Ministry of Business and Made in Italy (former Ministry of Economic Development)

The International Experience Licence (IEL) is divided into different levels:

  • Literacy Experienced (First Level IEL): certifies possession of the basic skills useful for operating in the Experiences sector 
  • Experience Specialist (Second Level IEL): certifies possession of the skills necessary to operate as an "Experience Specialist"
  • Head of Experiences or Ecomuseum Operator (Third Level IEL): certifies the possession of the necessary skills for the professional figures "Experiential Manager" or "Ecomuseum Operator)
  • Experiential Consultant (IEL Fourth Level): certifies possession of the skills necessary for the professional figure of Experiential Consultant ("Consultant for Experiential Tourism/Consultant for Experiential Marketing)
  • Experiential Tourism Manager (Fifth Level IEL): certifies the possession of the necessary skills for the professional figure of "Manager of Experiential Tourism" (Recorder of Experiences)
  • Heritage Interpreter (Sixth Level IEL): certifies possession of the skills necessary for the professional figure "Cultural Heritage Interpreter" or other figures considered equivalent
  • Experiential Trainer (IEL Seventh Level): certifies the possession of the skills necessary to carry out training activities in any of the subjects necessary to obtain the International Experience License (IEL)

Expiration and Renewal

The first and second level international experience license (IEL) has no deadlines.

To ensure that qualified individuals continue to possess the required knowledge and skills, Levels Three to Seven Licenses expire three years from the date of issue.

The three-year renewal, when envisaged, provides for the evaluation of the documentation certifying the maintenance of the knowledge and competence requirements.
