Ecomusée regional du Centre
Description

Ecomusée regional du Centre

Description:

Located in a mining center that remained practically intact after the cessation of mining activities in 1973, the ecomuseum tells the story of the region, centered on the production of minerals, through exhibitions located in a suggestive and extremely realistic environment. The site is very complex: built between 1835
and 1920 by the Carboniferous Company, founded in 1685 by the Spaniards, includes a productive part, with offices and various factories and, next to it, hospital, hospice, schools, shops and other buildings intended for the social life of the workers. Particularly suggestive is the spiral path that brings to life the typical day of a worker in the XNUMXs

Other information:

T he Center region does not exist in the geographical sense of the term, but it has been
artificially created with the industrial revolution. Since the thirteenth century it has produced considerable quantities of coal, but it was only in the first half of the nineteenth century that mining activities redesigned the face of the landscape as large canalization works (today partly classified as a Unesco World Heritage Site) were built to the transport of coal
